A couple of years ago, padel was still something many people around Boston were more likely to have seen online than played themselves.
That is changing quickly.
Padel is usually played in doubles on a smaller court surrounded by glass. The walls stay in play, rallies can keep going after the ball rebounds off them, and the format has helped the sport build a large international following.
The International Padel Federation said in June that padel had reached around 38 million players worldwide, with 100 national federations affiliated with the organization.
Boston is starting to look increasingly like part of that growth.
Search “padel” around Greater Boston on Maps today and the screen gets busy surprisingly fast.
Across just three operating venues Bzzpost could verify in Boston and Dedham, there are now 15 padel courts open for play.
PADELHUB on Summer Street has six indoor padel courts, along with a lounge and coworking space. The club opened its Boston location in late 2025.
A few minutes away in Seaport, Ballers Boston has three outdoor padel courts on Pier 4 as part of a larger sports and social space that also includes pickleball, food and drinks.
South of the city, Padel Boston in Dedham has grown from the three courts it opened with in December 2024 to six courts today.
And another major addition is already on the way.
M Padel is preparing a location at 735 Broadway in Malden. The company says the new club will include eight indoor padel courts and is targeting a winter 2026 opening.
The venues also give a clue about why padel is spreading beyond people who already play racket sports.
These are not just courts.
PADELHUB has coworking and lounge space. Ballers pairs the game with a bar and café setup on the waterfront. Padel Boston has built its facility around courts, coaching and social space.
The result feels somewhere between a workout, a game and a night out with friends.
Boston is still early in its padel era.
But judging by how quickly the courts are appearing around the city, finding somewhere to play is getting a lot easier.
