Boston nightlife has one major flaw: everybody gets hungry at midnight, right when half the city seems ready for bed.

Bova’s Bakery at 134 Salem Street in the North End is open 24/7. Its menu includes cannoli and other pastries, Sicilian pizza, subs and prepared foods, making it one of the neighborhood’s reliable late-night options.
South Street Diner, at 178 Kneeland Street, also operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Breakfast at 2:30 a.m.? Completely valid life choice.
Bricco, at 241 Hanover Street, runs a late-night menu until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
And across the river, Dumpling Garden, at 273 Broadway in Somerville, lists Friday and Saturday hours until 3:30 a.m.
Boston isn’t exactly Madrid after dark.
But you’re not doomed to a bag of chips from CVS either.
