One of Boston’s biggest cheat codes is having a ridiculous number of universities packed into one metro area.

And you don’t always need to attend the school to show up.

MIT’s events calendar, for example, regularly includes events that are free and open to the public alongside other programs with restricted access.

This week, Midday Music: Angel Subero & Latin Logic is scheduled for August 19 at Kendall/MIT Open Space and is listed as free.

Later this month, MIT Open Space is hosting an outdoor screening of The Wiz on August 28, also listed as free and open to all.

Boston University also maintains a public events calendar covering things like concerts, exhibitions, lectures, sports and other campus programming.

The important part: seeing something on a university calendar doesn’t automatically mean anyone can attend. Some events are students-only, some require registration, and others need tickets.

That’s why Bzzpost’s Campus Calendar will only include events where public access is clearly confirmed.

Think:

Event. Campus. Date. Price. Registration. Who can actually go.

Imagine paying Boston rent and ignoring concerts, exhibitions and lectures happening around you just because the building says MIT on the front.

Couldn’t be us.

Event information and public-access details were checked on August 17, 2026. University schedules, registration requirements and availability can change, so check the organizer’s current event page before going.
